FRIENDS For Life

Resilience Programs at Pathways for Anxiety, Bullying and Postive Coping Strategies

Friends for Life is a program about preventing childhood anxiety through the building of emotional resilience.

Approximately 20% of children and adults suffer with anxiety or depression. These conditions can significantly interfere with a child’s ability to handle a wide variety of everyday situations related to interpersonal relationships, peer relations, social competence and school adjustment. If left untreated, they may develop into chronic adult conditions.

Friends for Life is an early intervention and prevention program that aims to help children and their families develop effective strategies and a common language to deal with worry, stress and change. Important personal development concepts such as self-esteem, problem solving, self-expression and building positive relationships with peers and adults are promoted throughout the program.

Friends for Life can be implemented both individually and in group or classroom settings.

The program is offered for three different age groups as Fun Friends (4-6 yrs), Friends for Life (7-11 yrs) and Friends for Life—Youth (12-17yrs).

A one day workshop prepares those people interested in promoting children’s development and well-being with the skills to build children’s ability to handle those everyday situations that may increase emotional stress.
